Tatted Edges, 2 Tatting Patterns from 1951

Here are two lovely tatting patterns that I want to share with you.   These are from the September 1951 issue of The Workbasket.

The Workbasket was a magazine, and, as such, there are always bits of disguised history.    After all, ladies, most likely, did not spend time discussing World Affairs and certainly did not want to be reminded of them in their craft magazines (most likely a luxury).     Now, 1951 is a bit before my time, and I'll admit to forgetting almost everything I learned in the required history classes.    But, I was intrigued enough to do a few Google searches on the Tragedy of 1951; which was obviously not US based.    There were a number of atrocities going on in Russian territories, I learned.   But, hands down, I'm sure Aunt Ellen must have been referring to the Korean War - 1950 - 1953.   And yes, she was correct; those were terrible days in history.

If you create these tattings, please drop back by and let us know how they turn out and what you are going to use them for !

Thanks for dropping by,
Lorrie
